This year's guide is once again proudly brought to you with UDG Gear , makers of bags, trolleys, stands and cases for all types of DJ & production gear. If you use Traktor Scratch, especially with vinyl but also with simple CDJ players (i.e. no Midi/HID), you generally either use your laptop's keyboard a lot, or take along a Traktor Kontrol X1 or something similar in order to do transport, library selection, loops, cues and so on. With this unit you get all of that, plus an expressive effects controller that is frankly about a million times more fun.

This begins our DJ controller list with a solid piece of gear and it pretty affordable price of around $100 or so. We love it because it gives you the basic essentials needed for a DJ controller: 2-deck control, a mixer control in the center and a standard 4-channel playback — everything to emulate a complete DJ setup. It doesn't include any extra special MIDI controls or anything, so if you're looking for that specifically you'll have to continue on. There's a USB connector for it so it is compatible with both PC and Mac (no gaming consoles) and it goes well with most major DJ software, such as Traktor, but it doesn't work with Serato unfortunately.

Totally unique controller, so if you want to stand out from the crowd this is the controller for you. This totally unique DJ controller courtesy from Novation really does tick all the right boxes for any creative DJ out there. If you are a DJ that wants to experiment and make totally unique remixes, loops, mash ups with their tunes then the twitch might be the perfect DJ controller for you! However, most of their products were for the high end range, until this very new controller the Denon MC2000.

A compact, portable audio interface expressly designed for DJs, mobile music producers and other musicians who work with computers, the Numark DJ I/ connects easily with a standard USB cable to the computer and supplies extremely high-quality, 24-bit audio to output systems. Some really cool choices here and I get what you say about the SX, but that for me is my number 1 DJ controller!

We can check to see if MIDI messages are being communicated between the computer and the MIDI controller quite easily using a MIDI monitor. If you are unsuccessful with connection and your controller is not sending MIDI messages, try testing your controller with a different computer by following the steps in this article. For instance, most DJ controllers with Platters/Jog Wheels are not created equal.

Pioneer have been at the forefront of the latest DJ technology for a generation now browse this site and among their recent achievements is the hugely popular Rekordbox music management software which allows users to prepare playlists, cue points and loops at home, and then load all the information onto a USB memory stick for the club later that night. For fans of Pioneer's new family of DJM mixers, both sound colour FX and beat FX have been included into the design of this all in one controller.

DJ2GO is a portable, affordable and highly capable DJ controller that allows you to control your favorite DJ software with a tactile feel that can't be matched using a computer mouse and keyboard. So I spent many hours researching this device, and all of the other USB MIDI controllers in the neighbourhood of 5-6K, and wound up with this one.....If you are new to the digital DJ scene that needs a quick fix controller, the Numark DJ2GO MIDI controller is one excellent solution! I was a DJ once, back in the days when there were physical track consoles and you had to actually mix your music. I feel like going back to my playing days now :). And it's the perfect device if you want to learn to become a DJ.

I looked at almost every possible controller there is on the market but I didn't really found what I was looking for. I wanted a controller that has only the buttons and faders I want and what is there has to work great and accurate. But as far I know NI added 14bit MIDI support to Traktor back in version Pro1.1 (assuming you'll be using Traktor). You can see from our example below that this MIDI file contains Lead and Bass channels. Electronic keyboards tend to be the preferred instrument for creating MIDI files.
